MIBA Vice President Hiring Role Descriptions

Vice President of Operations

Position Overview:

MIBA’s Vice President for Operations is responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of events in MIBA. MIBA has a variety of events happening every year such as the MIB Gathering, MIB Orientation, EMPOWER, ECLIPSE, and many more! Event execution involves a variety of steps such as coordination of logistics, venue search/booking, work delegation, continuous communication, collaboration with other teams and external parties, and many more. The VP for Operation is responsible not just for the end result of a successful event, but also for being a good leader, managing their own Operations team consisting of 3-5 other MIBA members (directors and associates), and collaborating with the other departments. 

 

What you will do:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the successful execution of events, aligning with the organization's overall goals.

  • Oversee logistics, including venue selection, catering, audio-visual requirements, and other operational details.

  • Build and lead a high-performing Operations team, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment.

  • Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure seamless collaboration and communication for successful event outcomes.

 

What you will bring:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role with event management experience.

  • Command in Google Suite, MS Office, Slack, and Asana. 

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in client-facing situations.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.

Vice President of Marketing

Position Overview:

Being MIBA’s Vice President for Marketing is both about being an incredible leader and a creative personality. MIBA’s brand, mission, vision, values, our social media platforms and websites are all a representation of what our association is about. The VP of Marketing is responsible for managing a team of 3-5 other MIBA members (directors and associates), delegating tasks, being able to provide precise and clear feedback, as well as working closely with other VPs to execute marketing campaigns. The VP should have a good understanding of how to use Adobe Platforms and Canva, should have an understanding of technicalities behind running a marketing campaign, as well as be able to analyze the past statistics to ensure future marketing campaigns are successful. 

 

What you will do:

  • Create and implement a branding and design strategy for the 2024/25 year, relating to all events. 

  • Foster and lead a creative and innovative marketing team to execute deliverables on time.

  • Maintain brand standards and ensure compliance across all marketing and communications channels.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to ensure seamless collaboration and communication for successful event outcomes.

 

What you will bring:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role with social media and brand management experience.

  • Command in Canva, Adobe Suite, Wix, Slack, and Asana. 

  • Outstanding communication, organizational and leadership abilities.

  • Excellent innovative and creative ideas, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment

  • Passion for MIBA’s vision, goals, and events, demonstrated through creative strategy. 

Vice President of Internal Strategy

Position Overview:

MIBA’s Internal Strategy team consists of two components - Human Resources and Business Development. A strong VP of Internal Strategy must manage all the IS members, support them, and delegate tasks for them accordingly. 

 

Responsibilities under HR include, but are not limited to: leading hiring campaigns by creating job descriptions and hiring application forms, setting and conducting interviews, onboarding new members into a team, organizing training, organizing team socials for team-building, and unbiased conflict resolution. 

Responsibilities under BD include, but are not limited to: researching and writing business cases for MIBA’s two case competitions (EMPOWER and ECLIPSE), consult with faculty members to provide well-written cases to those events, be a liaison between the MIB community and the Department of Management and communicate any student concerns/feedback to the university staff members, and improve the experience of the MIB students by implementing new resources and providing guidance. 

 

What you will do:

  • Research, develop, and create cases for EMPOWER and Eclipse, working with internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Plan and execute MIBA team socials to connect departments in an informal manner. 

  • Develop and lead hiring campaigns for 2024/25 year, while engaging with senior leadership to set expectations.

  • Host internal team reviews, creating an environment for positive and healthy growth in all team members. 

  • Continuously foster relationships between the MIB and Management community, as well as the Department of Management to address concerns and questions. 

 

What you will bring:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role with Human Resources and Business Development experience. 

  • Command in Google Suite, MS Office, Slack, and Asana.

  • A high degree of interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities and strategies. 

  • Strong team player with key organizational and time management skills. 

Vice President of External Relations

Position Overview:

As the VP of External Relations in MIBA, you are the one bringing external opportunities to the organization as well as to the management community. The responsibility of the ER department is to connect with employers, company representatives, alumni, and others, to find external guests and sponsors who would be willing to support MIBA’s endeavors. As the VP of External Relations, you should have a deep understanding of how to communicate with external stakeholders, how to involve external parties in our events, and how to spark an interest in MIBA’s endeavors to ensure more active involvement. The candidate should also be smart about outreach strategies, such as the creation of the Sponsorship Package, and apply changes when necessary. 

 

What you will do:

  • Cultivate and nurture strong relationships with external partners, including multinational corporations, industry leaders, and influential professionals.

  • Engage with our network of partners to ensure lasting and mutually beneficial relationships, even if immediate benefits are not apparent.

  • Plan, delegate, and deliver outreach responsibilities, while setting expectations for your team and other departments. 

  • Maintain records of all interactions, partnerships, and outcomes, providing regular reports to other members of senior leadership.

 

What you will bring:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role with External Relations (partnerships, community engagement) experience.

  • Command in Google Suite, MS Office (Excel), Slack, and Asana. Experience in Canva is plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively persuade and inform.

  • Excellent ability to adapt to fast-paced and high-stress environments, with changing circumstances.

  • High sense of interpersonal and team-working abilities, continuously assisting directors and associates on the correct plan of action.

Vice President of Finance

Position Overview:

 

The VP of Finance is responsible for handling the submission of documents and communicating the estimate of how much money the club will need to function, communicating with the Department of Management any issues or concerns or questions in terms of the funding provided, estimating an ideal budget for each event, providing a marketing related budget, and clarifying with the other departments exactly how much funds they would need to successfully function throughout the year. Paperwork includes providing accountability reports to the Department of Management at the end of Fall and Winter semesters, keeping tabs on the cash flow of the organization, as well as handling MIBA’s bank account. 

 

What you will do:

  • Manage MIBA’s financial statements, annual budget and cash flow. 

  • Monitor the incoming and outgoing cash flow of each event and ensure all expenses are reimbursed in a timely manner through efficient communication.

  • Ensure all expenses and revenues are documented for future reference (invoices, receipts, etc.)

  • Lead the preparation of DOM accountability reports (Fall & Winter).

 

What you will bring:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role with Finance experience.

  • Command in Google Suite, MS Office (Excel), Slack, and Asana. 

  • Ability to understand and apply knowledge in budgeting and financial statements

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to finish tasks in a timely manner

  • A high degree of personal integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.

  • Possess a strong interest and understanding in finance and accounting.
